The local government of General Luna, with strong coordination and support of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), has been conducting road clearings in the different streets of the locality shortly after Typhoon Odette.
We were able to completely clear the roads of Poblacion 2, 3, and portion of Poblacion 1, 4, 5 and Catangnan with the help of the following individuals and groups who have dutifully extended their efforts and help to General Luna:
PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT OF SURIGAO DEL NORTE through GOV. LALO MATUGAS
DPWH through ENGR. OLIVER SULANA & ENGR. EDWARD TINIO
BOOMETRIX CORP.
DURROS CORP.
ECCON CORP.
VICE MAYOR VIC-VIC SOLLOSO

OTHER VOLUNTEERS ON THE GROUND
We will continue the clearing operation on the rest of the barangays and we hope for the cooperation of every household and establishment. We also would like to request everyone to refrain from dumping their wastes in areas that have already been cleared, and bring them out only before or during operation times and not after. We are currently collecting debris generated during the typhoon and rest assured to collect usual wastes regularly once the solid waste management system of the LGU is back in place. Our waste disposal facility was also damaged by the typhoon and we are currently working on the reconstruction of it. Once accomplished, we will be reviving the practice on proper waste segregation and continue the regulation of single-use plastics in the locality.
We couldn’t have done these without the patience and support of everyone in these trying times. Together we will recover. Salamat karajaw sa ijo dako na pagsabot ug kooperasyon sa ato taghimo na clearing operation. Maninguha kami na kita nijo tanan magtinabangay.
